The Inca Trail and Machu Picchu Trek
Our trip combines a trek along the spectacular Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. The Inca Trail has been described as probably the most spectacular short trek in the world, giving you a taste of both high alpine trekking and hiking through cloud forest.
We spend time acclimatizing in the remarkable city of Cuzco, formerly capital of the vast Inca Empire, plus visits to the sacred Valley of the Incas and the unique traditional market at Chinchero. A spectacular train ride, through the Andes mountains, takes us back to Cuzco. From here we return to explore this fascinating city with its exquisite Gold Museum and delightful colonial churches.
The astonishing diversity of Peru is unsurpassed - virgin Amazon forests, teeming with the world’s greatest biodiversity; glistening 20,000 ft Andean mountain peaks towering above crystalline glacial lakes; sun drenched beaches; the majestic heritage left by the pre-Inca civilizations and the vibrant cultures of their modern-day descendants.
